Offering Reassuring and Responsible Representation
A significant reason behind many divorces is the fact that one party feels that their needs have not been addressed and their voice has not been heard. If you are seeking a divorce for this reason, the last thing you need is a lawyer who isn't going to listen to you or your concerns.
I listen carefully to everything you say, taking the time to learn about your priorities, your future goals and your concerns. After learning about your unique situation, I use my experience, common sense and knowledge of procedural law to help you secure a divorce Judgment that protects your interests and plans for the future.
Cost-Effective, Thorough and Efficient
My outstanding knowledge of family law and ability to reason effectively will help you every step of the way through your divorce.
My first court action is to file a petition on your behalf with the court for divorce or to respond to the petition that you have been served. The petition has vital information about your marriage (or domestic partnership) including property lists, children's statistics, the reason for divorce, a request to end the marriage and possibly even requests for child support or spousal support, attorney's fees and divisions of marital debt and property. Temporary requests for spousal and child support, child custody and visitation can be filed.
It is important to remember that from the time that a petition has been served – not the time they papers were filed – the divorce cannot be finalized for at least six months. This mandatory “waiting period” is set forth in California law.
Using All Available Tools To Meet Your Needs
I excel at helping people come to an agreement without having to go all the way to the expense of a costly court battle. I encourage my clients to mediate or negotiate divorce settlements whenever possible to reach a more cost-and time-effective solution. However, if there are disagreements that can only be resolved in court, then I use aggressive, thorough and commonsense advocacy to protect your rights. Rest assured that I am an eloquent and skilled litigator who has tried hundreds of cases in Bay Area family law courtrooms.
